Position Overview

Leads and manages RGA Global Financial Solutions (GFS) business development efforts through acquisition of US reinsurance clients for asset-intensive, fee-based, financially motivated risk, and other product lines. Works closely with GFS Marketing and Transaction Services (MTS) unit to execute strategic and marketing plans. Maintains frequent contact with Senior Executives of US client companies to provide advice and counsel as a trusted advisor and lead treaty negotiation, pricing and structural issues for emerging opportunities. Positions RGA as the reinsurance partner of choice for structured and strategic reinsurance matters.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages GFS business development efforts by managing the relationships of RGA's US reinsurance clients.
  • Creates strategic marketing plans for new and existing US clients.
  • Negotiates and structures customized reinsurance solutions which embody client and RGA business objectives.
  • Oversees US contract (treaty) negotiations, both new and proposed revisions for client accounts
  • Works closely with MTS (transaction management) unit as well as Pricing and Risk Management to ensure effective and efficient quoting process and high level of ongoing customer service.
  • Positions RGA as the trusted advisor through market knowledge and value-added activities where possible and appropriate
  • Positions RGA as the reinsurance partner of choice in structured and strategic reinsurance matters.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Administration, Marketing or related degree or equivalent related work experience
  • 15+ years life or health insurance/reinsurance experience

Preferred:
  • ASA or FSA accreditation
  • Master's Degree, MBA
  • FLMI, CLU
  • CPA accreditation
  • Prior life or health insurance/reinsurance sales experience

Skills and Abilities

Required:
  • Strong computer based technical skills, including MS Office applications. CRM and actuarial software skills preferred.
  • Expert investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received to internal and external audiences.
  • Expert ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.
  • Expert skills in customer relationship management and change management
  • Expert ability to implement organizational, divisional, and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement of business objectives.
  • Expert ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously.
  • Expert ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines.
  • Highly advanced ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Expert persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers to resolve issues/problems.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the United States

Preferred:
  • Willingness to relocate to St Louis is preferred.
