Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP Recovery Operations - Forbearance, Tax & Letters will lead and manage the supporting functions of pre and post charge-off Forbearance (CCCS, CAP, Extensions & Settlements), Tax Reporting, Recovery Letters, and other small applicable processes. This leader will be responsible for leading all activities in relation to process excellence, risk governance, supplier management, performance monitoring, project management, complaint monitoring, prioritization, issue resolution, new portfolio/product integrations, and process technology automation enhancements.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead the tax process by ensuring the timely issuance and validation of 1099, 1042-S and other tax forms across Synchrony Financial
  • Work in conjunction with Synchrony tax team to manage and track the timely preparation of tax forms across our deposit, credit card and accounts payable platforms.
  • Lead a team of exempt and non-exempt staff, creating a GPTW culture, strong communication, coaching and professional development to direct reports and their teams.
  • Manage supplier relationships that are responsible for printing and distribution of tax forms.
  • Interact with cross-functional business owners responsible for tax form distribution/issuance related to deposits, recovery/charge offs, merchant transactions and accounts payable.
  • Level 3 process owner and leader across pre and post charge-off Forbearance (CCCS, CAP, Extensions, & Settlements), Tax Reporting, Recovery Letters, and other small applicable processes
  • Liaise with Legal and Compliance as needed to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulation.
  • Delivering a strong risk management culture that demonstrates compliance to all regulations and CTCs. Develop & follow all process & procedure documentation meeting regulatory requirements & meeting CTCs.
  • Manage testing of system enhancements and year-end processes
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences managing processes to critical SLA timeframes.
  • Partner with Risk Testing, Process Control & Internal Audit on regulatory readiness activities, support regulatory exams, audits & completion of request items and action plans.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years' experience in financial services industry in roles establishing new processes and managing process controls. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of 9 years' experience in financial services industry in roles establishing new processes and managing process controls
  • Minimum 3+ years demonstrated success leading a team with proven track record of delivering results, or in lieu of direct leading team experience, 3+ years leading cross functional projects demonstrating strong influencing skills, communications, collaboration, feedback gathering, etc.
  • Strong overall knowledge of card business including risk, collections and/or operations
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • N ew hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
