The Emergency Department Emergency Medical Technician assists RN and physician staff to provide care to patients in the Emergency Department. The EMT provides basic nursing care to patients; measures reports and records vital signs to include height and weight; Applies compresses and dressings; performs 12 lead EKG's, IV therapy, Oropharyngeal Suctions, suture removals and indwelling catheters. Transports stable patients safely by stretcher or wheelchair. Charts procedures. Assists the nurse with triage duties, collects laboratory specimen, and administers oxygen and apples cardiac monitor leads. Performs ear irrigations, eye patches, fitting of crutches, slings and ace wraps and splints. The position is also used as a patient flow coordinator (lead) and helps ensure patients are getting to open rooms and EMS traffic is directed appropriately. The Emergency Department Paramedic position assists RN and physician staff to provide care to patients in the Emergency Department. The Paramedic provides basic nursing care to patients; measures, reports, and records vital signs to include height and weight; Applies compresses and dressings; performs 12 lead EKGs, IV therapy, oropharyngeal suctions, suture removals, indwelling catheters, transports stable patients safely by stretcher or wheelchair and charts procedures. The position also assists the nurse with triage duties, collects laboratory specimens, administers oxygen, and applies cardiac monitor leads. The EMT position is also used as a patient flow coordinator (Lead) and helps ensure patients are getting to open rooms and EMS traffic is directed appropriately.

Position Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Georgia Emergency Medical Technician-I or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or Paramedic license for the State of Georgia. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS). Computer Skills, Equipment & Technology Skills.

Preferred Requirements

One year of experience; ACLS, PALS, Decon Training
