Job Description:
The 1st Class Electrician will be responsible for performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring or coaxial cable.
Essential Functions:
- Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary.
- Cuts wires to length, strips insulation from wire ends, and insulates connections with plastic sleeves.
- Attaches wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners such as bolts, screws, or solder.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- Perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with little supervision or guidance.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
- Use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, soldering and expected to accomplish the non-complex tasks associated with electrical installations of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc.
- Must be able to travel up to 30%
Qualifications:
- Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills typically obtained through a combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma/Equivalent with a minimum of 5 yrs. of electrical experience.
- 2 years post-secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 4 yrs. of electrical experience.
- Must have five (5) years electrical experience installing cables through shipboard cableways, performing terminations on military and commercial crimp and soldering type connectors/connections.
- Must be able to provide own hand tools specific to the trade.
- Must be a U.S citizen.
