Data Analytics Intern - Data & Analytics Tech+ Team

The work of our Data Analytics interns includes qualitative and quantitative approaches in pursuit of insightful, evidence based insights and models. Projects range from industry and subject matter research to data collection to the preparation of statistical, financial, and other forms of analysis. Our interns can progress rapidly as they assemble the requisite experience and demonstrate exceptional skill and judgment.

Responsibilities:

New Data Analytics Interns should be able to assemble compelling evidence from data and research that supports client deliverables and outcomes tracking outcomes to refine evidence-based models and insights over time. Key skills include:
  • Understand, capture in writing, and apply in planning with delivery teams key client needs and project or solution requirements. Develop an understanding of key client personas, or roles, and their use stories (needs, requirements, and context) to compile highly relevant business and technical requirements documents and assemble them into test & acceptance plans.
  • Research. Accumulate, and Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data from public, client, and firm resources related to client project needs and requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of robust data analytics models and their application in leading technologies such as Microsoft Fabric/Synapse, Snowflake, AWS & Google Big Query.
  • Support the development of data integration plans, blueprints, and engineering using data pipelines and Extract-Load-Transform (ELT) methods of data ingestion and integration services as part of broader data solutions. Ensure the design and development process includes efficient data integrity and quality controls to accurately reflect the source systems in the target models.
  • Understand and contribute to the disciplined, efficient application of our reference data architecture and standards in the design and development of data services and solutions.
  • Support the development of dashboards, analytic models, reports and other client data visualization models growing your skills with experience and training-based learning.
  • Introductory experience with MS SQL, MS Azure Cloud, MS Azure DataBricks, PowerBI, and other analytics development toolsets is important and a plus with a previous internship experience with any of these toolsets.
  • Interact with senior staff, leadership, and clients to communicate economic concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
  • Apply critical thinking skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Participate in a team environment and work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
Requirements:
  • Introductory experience with MS SQL, MS Azure Cloud, MS Azure DataBricks, PowerBI, or other Analytics development toolsets is important and a plus with a previous internship experience with any of these toolsets.
  • Possesses an academic understanding of basic business processes and organization.
  • Possesses knowledge of cloud-based data warehousing solutions with leading technologies such as AWS or Azure
  • Progression towards a master's or bachelor's degree in data analytics, math or statistics or a minor in a related field.
  • 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • 0-1 years of experience, including internships
  • This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with strong analytical ability and a desire to advance within an organization.
  • Proven capability with MS Excel and relational database program(s) (e.g., MS SQL Server, SSAS, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Tableau, Alteryx, MS Access, MySQL, Oracle, or Teradata). A desire to expand these capabilities is required.
  • Experience with statistical analysis programs (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata, R) is desirable but not required.
