POSITION: Community Outreach & Community Events Intern
DEPARTMENT: Community Outreach
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Community Outreach
STATUS: Sr. Internship, Unpaid (In-Person) - Spring
SUMMARY: This is an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in a career in Community Outreach and Events. Intern will observe, learn and develop skills necessary to explore career opportunities within the chosen field. Individual may qualify for college credit if allowed by their college/university. This position is an unpaid internship.
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Intern will learn and be exposed to:
• Inner workings of a major non-profit sports and event organization
• Exposure to the day-to-day administrative operations of a Community Outreach department, i.e. Purchase Orders, Databases, Scholarship Programs & Contest Applications etc....
• Learning the fundamentals and operational details to coordinate community programs and events
• Gain knowledge with the collection, organization, and database storage of communication documents
• Update and ensure accuracy of department databases
• Acquiring a high-level understanding on the preparation and execution of the Orange Bowl, Orange Bowl Leadership Academy (OBLA) and its End of the Year Celebration
• Aid in the coordination of the Orange Bowl Florida High School Football & Basketball Showcases
• Aid in the operational execution of the Orange Bowl Food & Wine Celebration & GA Telesis Orange Bowl Golf Tournament
• Work with the events department on executing various events
• Other duties as assigned
PREREQUISITES
• Pursuing a degree and/or career in Community Outreach/Relations, Community Programs or Event Management
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Publisher and typing skills
• Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
**NOTE: The OBC conducts background screening and drug testing as part of its pre-employment hiring process**
Note:Preferred commitment of a minimum of 30-40 hours a week consistent with academic demands/schedule. Ability to work weekends is a requirement for this role.
