24-25 Medication Assistance Program VISTA - Washington, DC

Catholic Charities is the social ministry outreach of the Archdiocese of Washington and assists individuals and families in need, especially those who are most vulnerable. We collaborate with community partners for resources and other community assets to offer programs that are effective and fiscally sound. The Volunteer Medical Clinic is part of the Healthcare Services of Catholic Charities and provides primary health care services utilizing a team of about 100 volunteers which allows us to not charge patients for visits. Our patient population is composed of uninsured and low-income adults living in Maryland, primarily undocumented immigrants. Our volunteers serve as clinicians, specialty doctors in connection with our healthcare network, Spanish interpreters, eligibility specialists, and other clinical and non-clinical support. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA's Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps DC Medication and Healthcare Resource VISTA will build the capacity of the agency's Volunteer Medical Clinic by building on the foundation of our Medication Assistance Program to organize and coordinate the Medication Assistance Program for low-income uninsured patients. The VISTA will expand our program to connect with additional medication resources, and create a centralized resource manual for all volunteer clinicians. In addition, the VISTA will look for additional community resources and help create sustainable community partnerships which will help alleviate poverty and enhance the agency's ability to serve patients and families.
