Provides information to and advises both enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation; may coordinate the work of entry level academic advisors.
  1. Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculums.
  2. Analyzes and processes degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, and general petitions.
  3. Maintains student files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
  4. Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic suspension, as well as financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students on probation.
  5. May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming new students.
  6. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
  7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors and 3 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Job Summary/Additional Duties:
Responsible for the day-to-day advising in Undergraduate Student Success, to include academic advising, planning and implementing New Student Orientation, and other related duties.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following:
  • Experience in a University setting, preferably in an academic advising office.
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, problem solve, exercise excellent judgment, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and adapt to shifting priorities in a diverse setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with experience working effectively with both internal staff and external partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and monitor multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to clearly interpret and implement policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Campus Solutions, and EAB Navigate.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years' academic advising experience/other closely related experience working with student at the higher education
    level.
