Job Goal:

To assist schools by providing educational interventions and progress monitoring for students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in universal screening activities and assist with the analysis of the data to identify students in need of response to intervention services.
  • Use identified scientific, research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties.
  • Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to insure process fidelity.
  • Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
  • Attend team/parent meetings as required; provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
  • Promote family involvement in education through partnerships between the schools, parents, other organizations, agencies, parent centers, and community-based family partners.
  • Provide information, training, and support for families and educators.
  • Familiar with the RTI process and Tiered instruction. Work with the classroom teacher and district personnel to coordinate reading and math instruction designed to meet the individual needs of the students.
  • Work with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress.
  • Promote interest in reading and math.
  • Perform other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in education. Preferred certification in K-8 elementary or reading specialist
  • Highly qualified in the state of Alabama
  • Valid Alabama teaching certificate
  • Possess or adhere to background check
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Superintendent

NOTE: Under direction of the school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students in designated subject areas(s), math, reading, etc. Supports the instructional program to provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure academic achievement for all students. Supervises students in a variety of school related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Collaborates with teachers in the development, selection and modification of instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
