The Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management within the School of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University (effective August 15, 2024, the School of Education and Human Development will change its name to the College of Education and Human Development) at Texas A&M University invites applications for two (2), full time, Academic Professional Track Faculty positions at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in Sport Physiology/Strength & Conditioning. Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Exercise Physiology and Sport Physiology programs. We seek candidates with expertise in teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: physiology of exercise, strength and conditioning, sport nutrition; laboratory techniques, exercise prescription; and supervision of internships. Candidates must have the ability and/or experience to be effective teachers, mentors, and supervisors in formal and informal settings. Candidates must have demonstrated expertise related to the field of strength & conditioning and sports science. In addition, the successful candidate will provide students with access to high impact teaching practices aimed at increasing student success inside and outside the classroom. Candidates must also have demonstrated active and sustained scholarship and service within national strength & conditioning journals and organizations.

One of the positions is specifically targeted for a internship/practicum placement specialist. Engagement in research and strong industry connections in these areas is also strongly preferred. In addition, professional, university, and/or community service is expected.

Responsibilities: Candidates are expected to contribute to the teaching of kinesiology courses within the department and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. This typically involves maintaining an 80% teaching, 10% scholarly activity, and 10% service load. Successful candidates will be responsible for meeting department, school, and university service expectations.

Appointment: Nine-month academic-track, full-time position with a starting date of August 1, 2025. Salary, benefits, and compensation packages are highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

PhD or EdD in Kinesiology or related field.

Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates who hold national level certifications in the areas of strength & conditioning (CSCS). Preference will be given to candidates who have classroom/teaching experience, experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students, and directing student internship experiences, as well as a strong network of professional connections for student internship and job placements.
