The Department of Global Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month appointment as Instructional Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure) position, starting August 1, 2024. This position will also hold an administrative appointment as the Lower Level Undergraduate Spanish Coordinator. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two (2) courses per semester at all levels of Spanish language courses. Responsibilities as Lower Level Undergraduate Spanish Coordinator include coordinating the lower-division (100- and 200-levels) Spanish language program; overseeing the lower-division Spanish language curriculum; preparing, revising, and/or reviewing syllabi and teaching materials for lower-division courses; facilitating orientation workshop for instructors of the lower division Spanish language courses; evaluating graduate student TA's; reviewing and selecting textbooks as necessary; providing general support to students and instructors; promoting the program.

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures houses the B.A. in Spanish, and M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies, in addition to degrees/programs in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian; Classics; Africana Studies, Religious Studies, and Jewish Studies. The department is part of the College of Arts & Sciences, which houses 18 departments and encompasses more than 130 areas of study. Qualifications

Qualifications: Masters' degree required in Spanish or Hispanic studies, second language acquisition, linguistics, or related field and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or a related field. PhD preferred. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is required. Experience coordinating language sections a plus. Detail-oriented, strong organizational and communication skills are required.
