POSITION: The Department of Animal Science , College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer with an emphasis in equine science. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track appointment with 100% teaching responsibilities with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to provide undergraduate animal science instruction related to equine science. The incumbent will enhance a multidisciplinary faculty, and this position in equine science will complement and extend current teaching initiatives and strengthen an already robust undergraduate curriculum within the department. The successful candidate will develop a teaching program that includes but is not limited to, laboratory-based courses in equine handling and management. The successful applicant will have access to livestock facilities associated with the Department of Animal Science.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: An M.S. or a B.S. in Animal Science or a related field emphasizing equine science and the ability to teach equine handling, safety, and management are required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the equine training field. Evidence of outstanding equine handling skills and industry engagement are required and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field or have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting .

Preferred experience includes but not limited to young horse development, equine behavior and problem solving, teaching the art of colt starting, Western and/or English riding instructional skills at various levels. , herd management, using horses in a ranching environment, showing in western performance disciplines a plus.
