The Department of Poultry Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University is accepting applications for one full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2024. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Lecturer depending on qualifications. The percent effort breakdown for this position is 90% teaching with 10% service.

The incumbent will work closely with other Department of Poultry Science faculty to deliver courses in the undergraduate curriculum, including General Avian Science (Poultry Science 201) and Avian Science Laboratory (Poultry Science 302). This position will contribute to the advancement of our undergraduate teaching programs and the enhancement of our distance learning and outreach capabilities. Instructional responsibilities include developing and teaching undergraduate courses in the fields associated with the Department's programs in Poultry Science. The successful candidate is expected to prepare and teach three Poultry Science courses per semester.

The Department of Poultry Science is a comprehensive poultry science program with academic, research, and service components spanning the full range from modern poultry management to the most cutting-edge biotechnology.

Qualifications

Masters in Poultry Science with three years of practice in the field or special licensure or certification in the field that is supportive of the teaching goals of the program, and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field required. Knowledge of the poultry industry to include past, present and future industry dynamics; avian anatomy/physiology as they impact commercial production; management principles and practices of breeding, incubation, brooding, nutrition, disease control and marketing technology. Outstanding teaching or a strong indication of teaching potential is required. Evidence of excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal) and strong leadership and team-building skills.
