JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform on-site technical work to install, configure and maintain security access control devices, intrusion alarm devices/ alarm panels and servers throughout the District. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing, repairing and maintaining security/access control devices, intrusion alarm devices/alarm panels and servers.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Install and upgrade access control systems throughout the District.

  2. Install, repair and upgrade intrusion (Burg) alarm systems throughout the District.

  3. Install software on client machines as needed.

  4. Install network, A/V cabling and network peripherals throughout the District.

  5. Plan and analyze existing and future security devices and infrastructure for improvements.

  6. Recommend access control and intrusion device placements at new or existing buildings.

  7. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.

  8. Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data circuits and equipment.

  9. Service equipment and maintain records according to established preventative maintenance schedule.

  10. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

  11. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.

  12. Ability to use approved equipment (ladders or lifts) to access equipment located in high locations.

  13. Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, carrying, etc.

  14. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor.

  15. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

  16. Maintain confidentiality.

  17. Regular attendance and reliable transportation.

  18. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with maintenance and repair of access controls and intrusion alarm security systems

  • Experience with Windows Desktop and server operating systems

  • Experience with network and A/V cabling
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification :
  • High School diploma (or GED)
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Associates degree, or equivalent work experience
  • A+ computer certification or equivalent computer hardware and software experience
  • Security Technician Certification (STC), or equivalent work experience
  • Advanced Security Technician Level 2 or Certified Security Technician Level 1 or equivalent work experience

Special Knowledge/Skills :
  • Knowledge of security Access Control systems
  • Knowledge of security Intrusion Alarm (Burg) systems
  • Knowledge of programming of both Access Control and Intrusion Alarm systems
  • Knowledge of security systems and cameras (Analog and IP)
  • Knowledge of computer workstation setup and hardware/software applications
  • Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
  • Ability to manage and safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized access
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a team oriented and customer service centered environment
  • Ability to plan daily schedules from a work order system and document actions.
