ACE Career Development Facilitator (2024-25 SY)

General Statement of Duties

The Career Development Facilitator is responsible for providing guidance and support to high school students to help them achieve their professional goals in their career pathway to being enrolled, enlisted, and/or employed. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of the job market, and the ability to develop and facilitate workshops and one-to-one assistance related to resume building, interviewing, work-based learning opportunities, and durable skills. The Career Development facilitator must be able to assess the needs of the ACE (Advanced Career Education) Center students and create a tailored plan to help them reach their desired career objectives.This position will report to the Administrative Coordinator of Workforce Development.

This is a 11-month assignment.

Essential Duties

The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations:

• Assist ACE Center students in developing career plans and strategies to be #LifeReady
• Develop and facilitate career development workshops for students and staff
• Train participants in career search techniques such as resume writing and interviewing
• Work closely with the WBL Coordinators to encourage and advise student participation in work-based learning opportunities.
• Provide guidance on the components and VDOE requirements of a work-based learning program
• Advise students on career opportunities and job listings related to their ACE Center program
• Work with ACE Center school counselor to ensure all students have a plan to be enrolled, enlisted, and/or employed upon graduation.
• Other duties as assigned
