AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The AWS Risk and Resiliency team supports datacenter site selection through performing technical due diligence on prospective datacenter locations to identify liability, site development, and operational risks. The AWS Risk and Resiliency team is seeking an acoustic engineer to perform sound and vibration modelling of future AWS infrastructure to ensure expected sound levels are compliant with applicable standards and evaluate the potential risk to sensitive receivers. The role will also identify and detail any mitigating measures.

Key job responsibilities

- Manage all aspects of a technical sound assessment and collaborate with team members to ensure projects meet timelines.

- Model the expected sound levels of datacenter equipment (use of CadnaA or SoundPLAN is preferred) and evaluate vibration on a project specific basis.

- Conduct ambient sound levels and/or equipment source measurements using a Type 1 or Type 2 sound level meter.

- Determine whether expected sound and vibration levels are compliant with applicable standards and evaluate the risk to sensitive receivers.

- Identify and detail any mitigating measures needed.

- Report on findings and summarize any identified risks to project timelines, costs, or feasibility.
