Basic Function
To carry out activities which meet the needs of all residents.
Essential Duties
1. Assist in planning and implementation of individual and group activities.
2. Carries out activities part of care plan.
3. Incorporates residents' interests into activities and discussion.
4. Gives residents opportunities for choices and self-expression.
5. Makes contact with each resident on his/her unit daily.
6. Makes suggestions for new and varied activities.
7. Identifies and provides adaptive devices for those with sensory deficits (i.e., large-print books, tape recorders).
8. Promotes self-esteem and social interaction with residents.
9. Provides activities for those with special needs (i.e., depressed terminally ill, bedridden).
10. Encourages participation and involvement of all residents.
11. Posts monthly and weekly schedules per Activity Director.
12. Updates and changes schedules and R. O. boards per Activity Director.
13. Prepares for and participates in resident care conference.
14. Maintains a clean work and storage area.
15. Uses proper body mechanics.
16. Follows proper infection control practices.
17. Observes for resident safety when in resident care areas.
18. Charts legibly, with standard grammar and spelling.
19. Adheres to legal requirements and proper policies and procedures in documentation.
20. Prepares sites and materials for activities.
21. Maintains equipment in safe and functional condition.
22. Treats residents and staff with respect and dignity.
23. Adheres to all facility and department safety policies and procedures.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from Activity Director.
Qualifications
• No convictions for abuse, neglect or mistreatment or for misappropriation of property.
• Prompt and regular attendance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read, write and make simple calculations and follow oral and written directions.
Physical Requirements
Note: In terms of an 8 hour workday, "Occasionally" equals 1% to 33%; "Frequently," 34% to 66%; "Continuously," 67% to 100%.
