ADAS-Automotive Test Technician

Intro


We are seeking an experienced ADAS-Automotive Test Technician to support the maintenance, update, and upgrade of development vehicles, focusing on both mechanics and electronics. The role involves the adaptation of prototypes and series vehicles to enable other teams to develop functions within safe and functional vehicles. This position requires close collaboration with various entities within VWGoA, synchronization with R&D departments at AUDI AG in Germany, and coordination with suppliers to ensure quick solutions during the product development process. Frequent travel to different locations in the US and Canada may be required for troubleshooting, reworking vehicles, or fleet coordination. This role will start off as a 12-month contract opportunity.

Job Details

Role Responsibilities:
- Adaptation and application of the test fleet
- Assist with ordering and inventory parts and equipment for vehicles required for realizing the project requirements.
- Responsible for installing and evaluating test systems.
- Responsible for the troubleshooting and calibration of tools and measurement systems.
- Responsible for installation of control units, sensors, and adaptation according to requirements and specifications.
- Responsible for reworking and adapting the test vehicles to prepare them for the planned activities.
- Check and control the entire test fleet to ensure that they fulfill customer and regulatory requirements.

Mandatory Skills

- 2+ years of relevant experience working with VW or Audi vehicles
- Extensive workshop experience, including the use of a wide range of hand tools, demonstrating a high level of technical expertise.
- Comprehensive experience in automotive software, including flashing and updating of ECUs and their parametrization.
- Experience in reworking, assembly, and installation of hardware components for test and research purposes.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics.
- Experience with calibration of Driver Assistance Systems, including radar, lidar, camera, etc.
- Experience with vehicle alignment.
- Strong technical and analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of the inner workings of motor vehicles and their various components and accessories.
- Knowledge of vehicle electronics.
- Ability to work independently.
- Open-minded and empathic work style.
- Excellent team player.
- Ability to work with others to improve safe working practices and the environment, ensuring follow-up actions are taken to remove identified hazards or risks.

Desired Skills

- Familiarity with automotive communication standards (CAN, FlexRay, and Ethernet), their network architecture, and measurement systems.
- Knowledge of VW Group and partner software tools, such as Idex, Odis, CPTool, and System42.
- Basic German language skills (written and spoken).
