Portland State University, with its 49-acre downtown campus, is a comprehensive public university enrolling 26,000 students. PSU seeks to meet the needs of its increasingly diverse population through its curriculum, research, and community service activities. PSU's mission is to provide access through the life span to a quality liberal education for undergraduates and an appropriate array of professional and graduate programs.

The Psychology Department serves approximately 1200 undergraduate majors and offers classes of interest to undergraduate students from across campus. In addition to 18 full-time faculty, the department works with a cadre of about 20-25 talented and dedicated adjunct part-time faculty, many of whom have taught for the department for years.
Position Summary
The Psychology department collects applications on an ongoing basis to fill vacancies throughout the academic year. Review of applications occurs as new sections or instructors are needed.

Portland State University's Department of Psychology invites applications for local Adjunct Instructors with expertise in core areas of psychology and teaching experience to teach undergraduate sections of courses in psychology.

Instructors must be qualified to teach courses in one or more of the following core areas (see PSU Bulletin for individual course descriptions):

Introduction to Psychology as a Natural Science
Introduction to Psychology as a Social Science
Cognition
Decision-making
Experimental Psychology Methods
Developmental Psychology
Human Development
Developmental Psychopathology
Motivation
Psychology of Women
Social Psychology
Clinical Psychology
Abnormal Psychology
Psychopathology
Counseling
Human Sexuality
Personal and Social Adjustment
Research Methods
Social Science Statistics and Data Analysis
Minimum Qualifications
M.S. or M.A. in Psychology (or closely related field).

Previous teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Psychology (or closely related field).

Previous experience teaching large undergraduate classes in psychology.
