Position Summary
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York ( SUNY ), invites candidates who can enthusiastically inspire and engage urban planning and architecture students to learn by doing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should have the ability to teach seated or online courses in architecture and design-related disciplines or conduct research/service in support of the mission and vision of the school. In addition to instruction in our core academic programs in environmental design and urban planning, candidates may also be prepared to teach courses in support of our other programs in historic preservation, real estate development, and international development and global health.

Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of urban and regional planning
  • Provides students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in subject area
  • Evaluates students' performance and provides effective feedback to guide student learning and success
  • Responsible for contributing to and maintaining an inclusive and collaborative environment
  • Ability to conduct research or service in support of the mission and vision of the school

The University at Buffalo's School of Architecture and Planning is the only school of architecture and planning within the 64-campus State University of New York ( SUNY ) system. The school offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design, Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Master of Urban Planning, Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, and Master of Science in Real Estate Development, MS in International Development and Global Health, PhD in Urban Planning, and also offers advanced graduate certificates in Historic Preservation and Affordable Housing. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or extensive professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in urban planning or related field.
  • PhD preferred for doctoral-level courses.
