Job Summary

The Department of Internal Medicine is currently seeking an administrative specialist to join its Faculty Affairs (FA) Team. The FA Team handles many important processes for the Department of Internal Medicine including faculty appointments and credentialing, CV review and promotions, and sabbaticals.

Responsibilities*

The successful candidate will direct all HR activities related to faculty in two to three divisions within the Department of Internal Medicine. In this role, you will walk faculty through the process of recruitment, hiring, initial hospital credentialing, and the new faculty appointment. Additionally, you will manage the appointment maintenance, promotion process, and termination/retirement process for all ranks and tracks.

You will also work closely with faculty members, division chiefs, division administrators, the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs, and the Chair for the Department of Internal Medicine, in addition to the Medical School Leadership and Faculty Affairs team, to plan for and accomplish these tasks in accordance with departmental, medical school, and university guidelines.

  • Utilize a collaborative approach to your work with the departmental faculty affairs team, faculty members, division chiefs, division administrators, and the medical staff services office
  • Self-direct your work and follow up on outstanding issues in a timely manner
  • Write letters and other communications on behalf of division chiefs and the department chair

Additionally, the successful candidate will coordinate other faculty appointment processes including professorship renewals, sabbaticals, and other leaves of absence.

Required Qualifications*

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
You will need knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software. We need someone who has the proven ability to:

Desired Qualifications*

We are hoping to attract someone with considerable experience assisting in the faculty appointments and on-boarding and who also has a reasonable knowledge of University policies, rules and regulations regarding faculty members.

We would also like someone who has experience in the University computer systems and applications (specifically Wolverine Access).

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 100% Remote.
