Job Duties

Virginia Military Institute is seeking applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant for Operations and the office of Cadet Life in the Commandant's Office. The incumbent shall perform duties as directed by the Deputy Commandant for Operations and Director of Cadet Activities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Act as a liaison between Commandant staff and several internal/external agencies.
• Review and update general orders, standard operating procedures, and file maintenance.
• Assist in travel logistics for clubs and extracurricular activities.
• Complete data entry for VMI fitness testing, training, and event schedules.
• Coordinate cadet club rosters.
• Provide administrative support for Ring Figure, Homecoming, Midwinter Formal, and other social events attended by members of the Corps of Cadets.
• Perform various assignments as assigned by the Commandant Staff.

This is a 1500-hour maximum position.
Hourly rate based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
• Good interpersonal skills.

Additional Considerations

• Knowledge of the VMI Post and VMI traditions helpful.
• Previous experience working in higher education.
