Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Office of Clinical Affairs (OCA) Administrative Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for the administrative management of select strategic and operational health system clinical initiatives. Serves as part of the Office of Clinical Affairs Chiefs leadership team and collaborates closely with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement strategic operational priorities across the health system.

Responsibilities*
  • Provides high-level administrative, financial, personnel, and operational oversight for the UMH Capacity Management Administrative teams and Medical Staff Services teams. Has direct supervision of the Administrative Director for Capacity Management Operations and Administrative Manager for Medical Staff Services. Ensures measurable impact on operational effectiveness through attainment of department goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
  • Manages the UMH CPR Committee resuscitation initiatives and UMH Multidisciplinary Pain Committee and subcommittee initiatives, including data analysis, staff coordination, and improvement workflows.
  • Attracts, develops, coaches, and retains high-performance leaders.
  • Oversees patient safety/quality data collection and analysis, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting. Demonstrates expertise in process improvement methods, including but not limited to PDCA, RCA2, FMEA, project management, and LEAN, to facilitate system improvements and standardization.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for UMH Policies, Procedures, and Medical Staff Bylaws, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key policies.
  • Coordinates UMH Steering Committee efforts for USNWR rankings, collaborating with UM Medical School leaders and executive teams. Develops and implements the strategic plan to ensure the objectives around reputation rankings meet and improve national reputation rankings.
  • Represents the Office of Clinical Affairs on institutional work groups and committees providing institutional and external consultation, leadership, and monitoring of departmental and institution-wide improvement processes.
  • Serves as an Administrator on Call (AOC) and Incident Commander on Call (ICOC) for UMH, managing complex situations and multiple responsibilities while simultaneously addressing the urgency of immediate demands with Michigan Medicine core values and strategic plans when on-call.
  • Responsibility for the Medical Staff chapter related to all Medicare (CMS) and Joint Commission (TJC) Medical Staff Standards biannually within accreditation software.
  • Oversight of project team revising all physician specialty privileging documents. Responsible for oversight of all specialty delineation of privileges documents for all privileged providers, to include revisions, maintenance, single specialty and multi-specialty coordination.
  • Facilitates or executes the coordination and administration of programs, projects, and activities as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Works collaboratively with senior and executive leaders to integrate cross-program, cross-departmental, and cross-segment activities.
  • Builds strong, sustainable relationships across all segments, disciplines, and departments to collaborate and achieve actionable results.
  • Communicates complex information effectively, collecting and analyzing data to inform OCA leadership.

Required Qualifications*
  • Master's degree in health services administration, business administration, or equivalent education and experience.
  • A clinical background with a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or other healthcare field is required.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in health care delivery, with a history of successful execution of initiatives in an academic medical center.
  • Considerable academic medical center experience
  • Proven experience managing in complex organizations.
