The Department of Dermatology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking part-time/full-time candidates for an Administrative Generalist/Medical Education Administrator to join our team in support of our expanding clinical, research, education and community missions to provide administrative support to our office operations and special projects. The position will report to the Clinical Department Assistant Administrator.

Our growing department currently supports clinical faculty in clinical care across the State of Virginia, 10 residents and numerous medical student learners. This role offers variety, opportunity to engage in collaborative problem solving and welcomes initiative in execution of tasks.

The position will share some responsibility for the Department of Dermatology Resident and Medical Student Programs. The position will be trained in aspects of the Dermatology Residency program in order to provide assistance and support. Additionally, the position will support Department wide education focused meetings (Grand Rounds, M&M, etc) which will include communication with internal stakeholders, guest speakers from outside the University, as well as manage travel coordination and support. In addition to the above this position will provide daily administrative support to the administrative leadership of the department.

The position will have some financial related responsibilities with respect to management of approved expenses and expense reporting. The position will have the opportunity to engage in development of processes and procedures, implement operational decisions in the administrative/education space, and participate in development of new initiatives for Dermatology Medical Education. New software platforms may be introduced into the medical education team on an annual basis, this position may be assigned training and management of new programs that impact any area of medical education required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Medical Education Programs Administrator
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Experience: Two years of experience, preferably providing administrative support to a medical education program.

Administrative Generalist

Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years' experience in an academic setting with medical education training programs
  • Microsoft Office product suite including Work, Excel, and Outlook (email and calendar management)
  • ERAS, New Innovations, Oasis and other medical education specific software
  • Qualtrics survey development and maintenance
This this part-time position with the possibility of transitioning to full-time employment based on performance and department needs.

Physical Demands:

This position is in-person and based in Charlottesville on the Grounds of the University of Virginia.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$55,000 - $65,000, based on education and experience.
