Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief, Staff Services Manager (SSM) III, the Staff Services Manager I plans, prioritizes, directs, oversees, and supervises the work and staff of the Office of Human Resources (OHR) Administrative Resources Unit (ARU), which is responsible for researching, developing, and implementing policies, procedures, and training for OHR staff and clients; timely and accurate information dissemination; Position Control activities; board member appointments; managing the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) compliance with Conflict of Interest filing; responding to OHR's subpoenas, Public Records Act and discovery requests; and providing clerical support for OHR staff and management. The SSM I may also perform the more complex training and policy interpretation and development duties.

Working Conditions
No specific physical requirements are present. The incumbent is a Work Week Group E employee and is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week each year and may be required to work specified hours based on the business needs of the office. The incumbent works in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. Daily access to and use of a personal computer and telephone (80+ %) is essential. Sitting and standing requirements are consistent with office work.
A flexible work schedule, including telework, is available. We are located in the Natomas area near the Natomas Marketplace, the Promenade, and many other shopping and dining establishments. Less than ten minutes from Downtown Sacramento, we also offer free parking and are special funded!
