Mathematics Department-Testing Support Center, Administrative Support Assistant

Full-time, Non-Exempt, MR03

Position Summary:

The TSC Support Staff (Testing Support Center) is responsible for proctoring regular and online exams and will work closely with the TSC Manager in coordinating various aspects of the center. In addition, the holder of this position will be the point of contact for the TSC. It is also the responsibility of this position to monitor office supplies, copier, and perform various administrative duties.

Proctoring Exams:

Communicate directly with a diverse population of instructors from various departments to understand testing needs. Administer make-up exams according instructors' guidelines and in compliance with departmental and university polices. Maintain privacy and security while handling testing materials and returning them to the instructor. Report any cases of possible academic dishonesty and manage the case with the guidance of the department and TSC Manager. Effectively convey TSC policies consistently to students and instructors. Manage TSC calendar for appointments and test scheduling.

Exam Management:

Copy and sort large volumes of testing materials including those for mid-term and exams for math courses. Scan and assist in grading completed exams. Manage exam retention and/or disposal in compliance with departmental and University policies. Compile documents and reports related to TSC utilization.

Administrative:

Respond to inquiries via phone and email regarding all aspects of TSC. Oversee inventory and make procurement recommendations regarding all supplies and miscellaneous needs. Handle multiple tasks and prioritize activities based on urgency and importance. Attend math department staff meetings and be able to provide appropriate updates to key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma and 6 months experience working with word documents and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of working in an academic setting. Experience in proctoring exams or providing directions.

• Ability to work independently and make logical and sound decisions.

• Ability to communicate with a diverse population of students, staff, and faculty in a courteous and professional manner.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and remain organized in busy settings.
