About this job:

Responsible for the functionality, support, and optimization of specific system, program, or process within the district. Applies subject matter expertise. Administers the day to day execution, maintenance, and change management of distinct areas of work to ensure business continuity. References tools, information, and other resources to ensure compliance with district policies and procedures.

Responsible for the daily operations and management of the district voice and data telecommunications network. This includes monitoring, training, troubleshooting, security, and coordination of installations and changes. Also responsible for designing and implementing network additions or upgrades. Provides subject matter expert level of service to daily operation of the DataCom network.

What You'll Do:
  • Maintains voice or data communications throughout the district, including monitoring, training, security, troubleshooting, and scheduling of new installations
  • Installs equipment on-site, testing system for functionality with all necessary software applications; completes all installations within set time lines; and installs and repair UPS systems as required
  • Significant experience with Cisco switching/routing and VoIP protocols required
  • Assembles and configure network components to include routers and switches per DPS standards
  • Sets up and maintain basic network operations
  • Maintains district VoIP telephones and telephone systems (over 10,000 ports supported)
  • Resolves all reported trouble tickets
  • Provide root-cause analysis and corrective action reports for all network failures. Provides network technical support for the district
  • Trains district personnel in network equipment use and maintenance
  • Writes and updates technical documentation that describes the networks and their functions. Install and repair UPS systems as required
  • Provides regular activity and status reports to management

What You'll Need:
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of technology repair service experience
  • Experience serving as the subject matter expert for network operations
  • Cisco certified to CCNA level preferred but not required; Other network certifications are a plus but not required
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude with excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management and the end-user community
  • Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines
  • Temperament to work under pressure and maintain effective working relationships with clients, fellow employees, other departments and outside contractors
  • The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance
  • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information
  • Working knowledge of data processing equipment, systems and techniques for data and voice networks Have and maintain a valid motor vehicle license
  • Ability to work off-shift and on-call as required outside of normal business hours, including occasional nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel to sites throughout the district
