This position is in Admissions at Florida State University College of Music and reports to the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Recruitment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating admissions processes at the College of Music.
  • Advises and counsels prospective students, parents, and other interested individuals on the College's academic programs, admissions requirements, and recruitment process.
  • Serves as a highly visible representative of the College of Music to prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, and other interested parties.
  • Counsels prospective students on academic program offerings and admissions process.
  • Coordinates with incoming students to ensure appropriate registration and compliance with University requirements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with prospective and incoming students through social media, email, and phone.
  • May travel to college fairs, high schools, and other events on behalf of the College of Music.
  • Responsible for visitor experience, including prospective student and group tours.
  • Coordinates daily operations of the College of Music Admissions Office. Trains and supervises graduate assistants and OPS employees.
  • Documents and maintains audition results, admission decisions, and historical records.
  • Represents the College of Music at University meetings. Serves in the absence of the Assistant Dean.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Dean of Admissions, develops recruitment strategies to attract targeted populations in anticipation of studio/ensemble/ program needs.
  • Researches, analyzes, and presents College and nationwide admissions and recruitment trends.
  • Develops policies and procedures to effectively administer the College of Music admissions process.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Preferred Qualifications

We are especially interested in candidates with a collaborative attitude and the ability to thrive working among unique populations of faculty, students, visitors, and staff. Excellent communication skills and familiarity with professional etiquette are required for success in this position as is the ability to engage with a large cohort of prospective students.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice.
  • Successfully prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Experience working effectively under pressure or in a fast-paced environment.

Anticipated Salary Range

Low to mid-$40,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
