The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for an Admissions & Recruitment Specialist (Full-time, Non-exempt) in the department of Graduate & Executive Education (GEE). Reporting to the Director of GBP Admissions, this position serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students for the purpose of learning more about the Haslam College of Business Master's programs. This position interacts directly with prospective students representing many departments, colleges, and areas of the community. The GBP Admissions team frequently works with other university offices, particularly the Graduate School and Graduate Admissions, meaning this position has campus-wide impact.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative and Organizational Duties:
    • Oversee and maintain documentation and records of financial aid awards; send weekly updates to program directors and admissions team.
    • Create, develop, and communicate detailed admissions reports in Slate and Excel for all programs; send weekly updates to program directors and admissions team.
    • Manage the receipt of final admission decisions and financial aid awards from the admissions committee and update records accordingly.
    • Collaborate with the Center for International Education on I-20 forms and visa processing.
    • Prepare, analyze, and present statistical summaries of applications for reporting to the admissions committees and the Haslam College of Business administrators, providing recommendations for process improvements.
    • Lead the collection, compilation, and analysis of data for completion of various ranking surveys; communicate results and advise leadership on decisions.
    • Process payroll paperwork for hiring and termination of graduate assistants.
    • Actively participate in admissions committees, analyzing information and providing recommendations and guidance for admission decisions.
    • Leverage Slate CRM system to improve processes and find areas to better recruit students.
  • Graduate Assistant Allocations & On-boarding:
    • Conduct individual orientation appointments with incoming graduate assistants each semester and facilitate the successful completion of hire paperwork.
    • Partner with FIO, HR, Bursar, and Center for Global Engagement to ensure hire paperwork is processed and tuition waivers are applied.
    • Collaborate with faculty and department heads to determine annual allocation of graduate assistants and their assignments; notify graduate assistants of their assignments each semester.
    • Solve student issues directly or escalate to the appropriate person when necessary.
  • Communication with Prospective/Current Students and Other Departments:
    • Counsel and advise prospective students on the application process and program details via phone, email, and in-person visits.
    • Provide prospective students with tours of the building and serve as the main contact for their inquiries.
    • Address applicant questions related to admissions decisions, including financial aid packages.
    • Lead event planning for recruitment events, developing strategies to increase engagement.
    • Coordinate with other departments to collect data and provide information about HCB graduate students.
    • Organize and recruit student ambassadors, overseeing their activities and hosting meetings/tours; develop recruiting strategies for student ambassadors.
    • Represent the Graduate Business Programs Admissions team at recruitment events.


Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications and Experience:
    • High school diploma required
    • 3 years of experience in a professional office or administrative role
  • Desired Qualifications and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Experience working with students
    • Business development, recruiting, sales, or data management experience
