The Heart & Vascular Institute at Tampa General Hospital and University of South Florida is recruiting an outstanding Advanced Heart Failure, MCS and Transplant cardiologist to join our team at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank.

Our team includes 11 heart failure/transplant cardiologists, 3 heart failure surgeons, and 13 advanced practice providers with 24/7 in-house hospital coverage. Additionally, the program has an ACGME accredited Advanced Heart Failure fellowship. We have a very large and expanding ambulatory practice with subspecialty clinics, comprising over 15,000 patients per year. Our subspecialty programs include: Amyloid cardiomyopathy clinic, Pulmonary Hypertension clinic, HFpEF clinic, Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy Clinic, Cardio-oncology, and Genetic cardiomyopathy Clinic.

Our academics focus on the education of fellows, residents, and medical students as well as the conduction of investigator-initiated research and leadership in national and international clinical trials. In addition, there are ample opportunities for basic and translational research within and in collaboration with the USF Heart Institute, a free-standing world class facility in downtown Tampa's budding Medical District. There are specific opportunities to participate in innovation through TGH Innoventures to harness innovation and help change the future of healthcare delivery.

Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida have partnered to form the only academic medical center on the West Coast of Florida. Ours is one of the oldest and largest heart transplant programs in the country, having completed over 1600 heart transplants and implanted 800 LVADs through March 2024.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be eligible for the rank of assistant or associate professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Graduating fellows are welcome to apply but a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in transplant and MCS is preferred. The ideal candidate will be board certified or eligible in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant, have a focused area of academic and clinical interest within the field, be proficient in performing endomyocardial biopsies and right heart catheterizations, and be a role model, teacher, and mentor to trainees. Established leadership or leadership potential is highly desirable.

This position is 0.9 clinical with 0.1 for research development
