The New Mexico Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Prevention Program has as its primary goal the reduction and prevention of
the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV infection. The STD Program provides statewide consultation and technical assistance, partner services, screening, surveillance, health care provider education, case management, and partner notification for reportable STDs in the state.

Why does the job exist?

Provide high quality clinical services, appropriate history, physical exam, assessment, documentation, and plan of care to patients in the McKinley and Cibola public health offices and other regional Family planning and STD clinics as assigned. Provide clinical support to clinic nurses and other programs as needed. this job fulfills a mission of the agency.

How does it get done?

Direct clinical services to patients in the McKinley and Cibola Public Health Offices/ area ; outreach services as needed; services as needed to promote an effective work environment such as participation in meeting and precepting of students. Participation in continuous quality improvements of clinical services. Provide Internal Customers (Public Health Personnel) with high quality services including: providing clinical orders, direction and feedback to Family Planning Nurses, participating in New Nurse Orientation; Interacting and communicating with co-workers and colleagues in a professional and respectful manner; Providing prompt response to requests for consultation from Public Health staff regarding appropriate treatment and follow-up of clients as well as training and staff education as needed/requested.

Ideal Candidate

Experience in providing family planning. STD, MOUD clinical services. Excellent team collaboration skills. Meticulous attention to detail in following best practices care protocols and documentation of clinical services. Has knowledge about the community needs.

Minimum Qualification

Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. New Mexico CPN license; ability to meet Public Health Division credentialing criteria

Working Conditions

Office setting; exposure to visual/video display terminal extensive computer and telephone usage; extended periods of sitting at the computer; outdoor settings as needed to provide outreach services. Regular travel between Gallup and Grants offices is required.
