Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment which includes: Planning and directing the delivery of healthcare to the Pediatric population with various ENT disorders and concerns. The incumbent will provide care and health education for patients and their families. In addition, 5% educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the otolaryngology division according to approved protocols and acceptable standards.
  • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician. Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
  • Collaborates with Medical Physician and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  • Develops strong partnership with patients, family members, fellow physicians/nurses and support staff. Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
  • This is primarily an outpatient position with some inpatient responsibilities. Duties include managing the care of children with new and ongoing ENT disorders, developing education plans for families, and ordering appropriate consultation and referrals when indicated.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Earned Master's degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
  • Current DEA certification, and m ust be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and advanced practice nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required.
  • Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary and/or Acute Care required. Special exception may be made for an internal candidate certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner currently working at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital as an APRN.
  • Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.


Departmental Preferences:

  • Three years of clinical practice experience at the RN level.
  • Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.
