Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Advanced Information Technologist - Lead Data Modeler to join our growing Data Analytics Engineering & Integration team in Ridley Park, PA, Seattle, WA, or Hazelwood, MO! This team is tasked with transforming the way BDS data is sourced, managed, and utilized to unlock insights to drive business growth and optimization. The team supports data needs for internal stakeholders, across BDS business programs and functions, and is tasked with utilizing data to inform and improve the full lifecycle of BDS products.
As a Advanced Information Technologist - Lead Data Modeler, you will be a key player in advancing our data capabilities, directly impacting our engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain operations. This role is crucial for designing and implementing data models that not only support but drive operational efficiency and strategic decision-making across the company. The ideal candidate will have experience with large scale data platforms, cloud computing, hybrid clouds, software development, and requirements management.

Position Responsibilities:
- Design and Develop Data Models: Shape the strategy and processes for creating high-quality, efficient data products by designing domain driving data models that align with the operational needs of various Domains within a Data Mesh. Provide expertise to guide the structure and offer recommendations for Domains and Subdomains that balance both business and technical requirements.
- Model Maintenance and Collaboration: Create, maintain, and evolve the Data Models. Collaborate with Domain data teams to ensure alignment with the model and drive consistency across the organization.
- Implement Best Practices: Develop and implement best practices for data modeling to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Analyze Data Requirements: Assess data product requirements and identify relevant sources to support modernization initiatives and the development of data products/data mesh.
- Evaluate and Develop Models: Review existing data systems, establish standards, and work with domain and development teams to create conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Ensure Model Compliance: Ensure that data adheres to modeling standards, aligns with the data management framework, and contributes to improved business outcomes.
- Communicate Results: Present and communicate modeling results and recommendations to internal stakeholders effectively.
- Engage Domain and Product Owners: Ensure that domain and product owners understand and engage with the data model, ensuring it supports domains while adhering to the Data Management policies.
- Promote Reusability: Focus on creating reusable components, accelerators, and shared frameworks to minimize duplicate efforts.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with the broader data products team to achieve modernization and rationalization goals across traditional relational databases and modern data architecture implementations.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor data modeling teams, providing direction, support, and feedback to ensure successful project delivery and professional development.
- This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate might be required to perform 1 day per week onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience in data modeling
- Familiarity with ER/Studio for data modeling, including its features for diagramming, model management, and metadata management.
- Proficient in identifying and evaluating options to determine the best solutions that meet business requirements.
- Skilled at transforming intricate data issues into conceptual, logical, and physical models.
- Capable of driving immediate actions that align with long-term objectives.
- Strong in managing stakeholder relationships, understanding their needs, and influencing decisions with clear communication at various levels.
- Exceptional at teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with AWS GovCloud
- 1+ years of Agile and/or SAFe Agile
- Informatica knowledge for data management
- Experience in the aviation industry or other regulated industries
- Experience of working within a multinational matrix management environment / structure and a large-scale, sophisticated international organization
