Essential Functions

Reports to the WHSON Director of Student Success. Serves as an academic advisor for students, assists with student recruitment, and implements retention strategies for students. Assists students in course choice and scheduling, and supplies information about academic policies and procedures. Assists with the selection and awarding of Nursing scholarships. Uses university records systems and tools to document advising activities. Identifies students experiencing difficulties and directs students to proper resource programs. Develops and executes recruitment strategies under the supervision of the Dean and Director. Supports and develops advising materials specific to the School of Nursing. Uses a variety of computer application packages to aid in the development of databases and statistical reports related to advisement, recruitment, retention and other student records. Communicates with advisees on a regular basis. Updates and analyzes student files and programs of study. Initiates and tracks official academic correspondence associated with eligibility and progress toward degree. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree or 3 years of experience working with secondary or post-secondary students in academic, educational, counseling, or similar setting.

Work Hours

M-F 8:00 - 16:30; some recruitment activities and student events may require limited night and weekend hours.
