Job Summary:
The UW-Madison, Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station (RARS) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as Agricultural Laborer. RARS supports the research and outreach efforts of UW-Madison scientists, with primary focus on potato breeding and variety development. The ideal candidate will be interested in agricultural work in a research setting, including field operations and greenhouse production.

Responsibilities: Supports the operational activities of a farm, field operation, or agricultural facility, maintains plant production, and maintenance to ensure operational efficiencies.
  • 40% Plants, cultivates, and harvests vegetables, fruits, nuts, horticultural specialties, and field crops
  • 10% Cleans, grades, sorts, packs, and loads harvested products and seed
  • 20% Maintains and evaluates hardscapes
  • 25% May operate farm equipment
  • 5% May participate in irrigation activities

-Previous experience with field and greenhouse operations is preferred.
License/Certification:

Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
Work Schedule:
Normal hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.
Work Type:
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.
Salary:
Minimum $17.00 HOURLY

Additional Information:
-Must pass a criminal background check.
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
-Must complete forklift and tractor safety training.
-Occasional weekends
