Description

We are seeking a motivated and ethically-minded intern to join our AI Ethics team in supporting the development and implementation of AI governance strategies within SAIC. As an AI Ethics Intern, you will be involved in supporting initiatives designed to promote AI literacy across our teams, increase awareness of our AI portfolio, and assist in the rollout of internal AI governance programs.

*This is a part-time internship that can be worked remotely from anywhere within the US.*

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the research and analysis of ethical issues related to artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
  • Support the development of communication materials and programs to bolster AI literacy and ethical awareness among staff and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the assessment of AI projects for ethical considerations, compliance with governance standards, and alignment with best practices.
  • Contribute to the drafting and revision of guidelines and procedures that support our AI governance framework.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the AI landscape within the company, identifying areas where ethics and governance are particularly crucial.
  • Help organize workshops, seminars, and discussion groups that engage various departments in the conversation around AI ethics and governance.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of AI governance initiatives, tracking progress and contributing to reports on the findings.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Currently enrolled in a university with at least 3 years completed, pursuing a degree in Philosophy, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Law, Social Science, or a related field with a strong interest in the ethical implications of technology.
  • Familiarity with the fundamental concepts of AI and machine learning, as well as interest and/or willingness to learn about the intersection of technology and ethics.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into accessible information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of contributing to discussions and creating clear, informative materials.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals and to approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
