Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join the Language AI team building next generation wearables within the Reality Labs org. This year we launched AI on our Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, bringing our assistant to more people and in future years we will bring this and new cutting edge technology to more wearables. We will continue investing here to improve large language model quality, scalability with new capabilities. We will be building an assistant that is social, more capable, more personal, and more ubiquitous. As an AI Research Scientist, you have the opportunity to help push state of the art research, fine-tuning industry leading models, and bring them to products to impact billions of users.

AI Research Scientist, Language - Wearables Responsibilities


  • Perform research to tackle unsolved real-world problems and push state of the art LLMs and AI Agents.

  • Drive applied research that can be applied to Meta product development.

  • Directly contribute to experiments, including designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results.

  • Help identify long-term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones.

  • Prioritize research that can delight Meta Wearable customers.

  • Mentor other team members. Play a significant role in healthy cross-functional collaboration.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence or a related field.

  • Research experience in one or more of these areas: NLP, machine learning, deep learning, or related fields.

  • 3+ years of experience with development and implementation of LLM algorithm/systems and model training.

  • Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks.

  • Experience working with machine learning libraries like Pytorch.

  • Familiar with scripting languages such as Python and shell scripts.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research.

  • 4+ year(s) of work experience in a role with primary emphasis on AI research.

  • First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., EMNLP, NAACL, ACL, ICLR, and NeurIPS).

  • Experience in developing and debugging in Python.
