Job Description:

Hours: 36 hours per week rotating shifts

Location: Louisville, KY without company-paid relocation funds

Work Environment:
It is a fast paced, dynamic environment requiring the ability to multitask workload. Must be available to work rotating shifts, Holidays and weekends. Must be able to handle the Aircraft Dispatchers request with a sense of urgency. Candidate will be required to lift some supplies (25 lbs.). Candidate will work indoors. Business casual is acceptable dress.

Job Summary:
The Aircraft Dispatcher plans the route of flight taking into account aircraft performance and loading, enroute winds, thunderstorm and turbulence forecasts, airspace restrictions, and airport conditions. The Aircraft Dispatcher will also monitor the flights progress from departure to arrival and advise pilots if conditions change. They also share legal responsibility with the pilot in command.

Job Description:
The Aircraft Dispatcher responsibilities include:
  • Must possess an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate and be authorized by UPS to exercise full operational control over any flight.
  • Remain on duty during the planning and operation of all flights, and exercise complete operational control authority over assigned flights.
  • Assume responsibility for the preflight planning, issuance of dispatch releases and, if certified, EWINS FMFs; monitor flight progress; provide the latest available flight information ensuring the safest and most economical flight operations.
  • Assume joint responsibility with each Captain for flight safety, insofar as those duties and requirements of Flight Control Aircraft Dispatchers are specified in FAA regulations and FOM Vol 02.
  • Assume responsibility for company compliance of all FAA regulations and policies insofar as they apply to the flight dispatch of aircraft.


Required Skills:
  • Must possess an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate and have basic air carrier operations knowledge from a Part 135, 119, or 121 Domestic, Flag, or Supplemental operations.
  • Possess a minimum of 4 years domestic flight dispatch experience or a minimum of two years international flight dispatch experience.


Preferred Skills:
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Candidate's ability to speak a second language is ideal.


Interpersonal Skills:
Candidate should be a team player, exhibit leadership skills, be self-directed, show initiative, be able to make decisions on your own, have good organizational skills, have excellent attention to detail, and most important, have the ability to handle stress well.

Additional Notes:
As part of the UPS pre-employment process for a safety sensitive position. A drug screen is required. UPS must receive a negative test result before you can be put into a safety sensitive position (14 CFR Part 120.107 (a) 4).
