Duties

As a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC - TITLE 32, WG-8602-10, you will remove, install, certify, repair, modify, overhaul, and install turboprop engines, reduction gear boxes, turbine modules, compressor modules, auxiliary power units, propellers and components. Perform maintenance on propulsion systems including repairs and overhauls. Diagnose malfunctions using computerized test equipment, schematic diagrams, and technical publications. Perform repairs according to the test results and analysis. Modify engines, propellers, auxiliary power units, and components in accordance with Time Compliance Technical Orders directives; remove and install engine quick change kits; prepare engines for installation and install engine and propeller assemblies on aircraft. Perform operational checks of installed propellers, engines, auxiliary power units and sub-systems during aircraft maintenance ground runs. Perform evaluations on engines, propellers and auxiliary power units. Interpret certification findings and determine adequacy of corrective action. Perform aircraft full power runs and complete engine and propeller efficiency checks. Prepare man-hour data collection and required forms for input. Maintain bench stock, parts, and equipment. Provide training for personnel. Advise supervisor of the experience and skill levels of personnel. Prepare for and participates in evaluations, inspections, and exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

Area 3B applicants must meet the military qualifications and rank requirement when assessed as a member of the the Kentucky Air National Guard.

RANK REQUIREMENT:

Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.

You must be assigned to a compatible military position.

Wear of the military uniform.

May be subject to furlough actions.

May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

Experience that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least 18 months experience performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
