Job Summary:

This job requires the set up and operation of various types of motorized equipment, hand tools, and holding fixtures for buffing and polishing of various aircraft components. Requires the operation of all equipment, techniques, and polishes on all metal alloys to meet acceptable appearance standards. May be required to assist lower grade Operators.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate motor driven wire brushes, cloth wheels, abrasive coated wheels along with the use of various buffing compounds to meet required finishes.
  • Polish steel components to acceptable specifications prior to electroplating as required.
  • Work to close tolerances of the finish specification.
  • Ability to plan and perform methods of holding various shapes and sizes of parts against the buffing wheels to obtain the desired finish.
  • Requires the ability to use learned techniques for buffing out scratches and polishing parts to acceptable finish standards.


Education: Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.

Experience: Requires a minimum of one year experience in polishing and buffing to gain satin and/or mirror finishes.

Working Conditions: Considerable dust and vibration in production areas. Requires continuous physical exertion, including standing most of the workday holding various sizes and shapes of material with arms extended.
