Airport Business Systems Technician (User Technology Specialist) - Aviation Department

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Over 48 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $44.3 billion annually.

Aviation is seeking an Airport Business Systems Technician (User Technology Specialist *U2). This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing critical business systems essential to the successful operations at Phoenix Sky Harbor International, Deer Valley, and Goodyear Airports. This position works with Parking Revenue Control, CCTV, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Public Address, Noise Monitoring, People Counting, and Video Wall systems. The Airport Business Systems Technician provides onsite support 5 days a week between 6 AM and 6 PM. To support the 24/7 operations of an airport, this position is required to be on call for one week at a time on a rotational basis.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Knowledge of mandated environmental security protections pertaining to building controls.

SALARY

Pay Range: $32.62 - $48.19 per hour.

Hiring Range: $32.62 - $41.63 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• One year of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software or installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems.
• OR One year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems.
• OR One year of experience in avionics maintenance.
• Course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• Field experience with one or more of the following:
  • Building Automation control systems.
  • Networked systems.
  • Parking Control systems.
  • Commercial CCTV systems.
• Two years of journey level experience in the design, installation, programming, and maintenance of Access Control, Video Surveillance, or other networked systems.
• Four years of experience working in an aviation environment with knowledge of TSA and FAA rules and regulations.
• Four years of journey level experience in the design, installation, programming, and/or maintenance of Linux, Windows, TCP/IP, and/or electro-mechanical systems.
• Associate degree (or higher-level degree) in Electronics or a related field (such as Electronic Engineering Technology or Computer Information Systems).
