Project/Unit Description

The Kill Chain Analysis Branch is part of the Electromagnetic Warfare and Survivability Modeling and Simulation (EWSMS) Division under GTRI's Electro-Optical Systems Lab (EOSL). The Kill Chain Analysis Branch develops modeling and simulation tools to perform comprehensive end-to-end analysis of kill chains associated with various platforms and munitions, including red and blue systems, and informs force-on-force and/or campaign-level simulations.

EWSMS provides modeling, simulation, and analysis of platform and system effectiveness and survivability in one-on-one, few-on-few, and many-on-many scenarios, as well as comprehensive kill chain analysis.

Job Purpose

The Algorithm & Analysis Engineer is responsible for the development and support of state-of-the-art algorithms involving data fusion, sensor fusion, machine learning, manned/unmanned avionics improvement programs, and genetic programming. The Algorithm & Analysis Engineer focuses on the design, analysis, software/hardware implementation, optimization, profiling, and experimental evaluation of computer algorithms, bridging the gap between algorithm theory and practical applications of algorithms in software engineering. Additionally, the Algorithm & Analysis Engineer conducts statistical analysis of multi-modal and time-varying data to characterize and quantify system qualities and deficiencies, resulting in recommendations and development of improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data cleaning and fundamental data analysis using existing tools with senior guidance
  • Execute algorithm tests in accordance with limited direction from senior researchers
  • Contribute to algorithm design discussions
  • Design and/or modify aspects of algorithm design and implementation
  • Contribute to technical report execution
  • Participate in sponsor discussions of program technical status and research results
  • Accompany lead engineer to sponsor sites for meetings and analysis
  • Accomplish specific technical and writing objectives for the development of conference presentations and journal publications
  • Aid in literature searches

Additional Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute mission and engagement-level scenarios in AFSIM
