General Description

This position will ensure optimal protection of CCPS assets by providing analysis and feedback needed to defend against emerging attacks. The position maintains, implements, and monitors the CCPS Cybersecurity Program. Performs all duties in compliance with CCPS policies and procedures as well as federal and state law.

Essential Job Functions

Essential Job Functions:

? Responsible for managing, maintaining and ensuring compliance with the information security framework.

? Responsible for implementation and compliance with security policies across multiple platforms

? Provides technical support and consultation for enhancement of and change to network security configuration.

? Defines processes/procedures to manage the disaster recovery plan.

? Conducts active penetration tests, active monitoring, auditing, etc. of systems.

? Conducts annual reviews of security program documentation and responsible for creating/maintaining such documentation.

? Serves as a member of the Incident Response Team.

? Conducts third party applications review to ensure compliance with security best practices and policies.

? Responsible for the implementation and management of Information Security Initiatives.

? Responsible for assessing any security breaches and identifying vulnerabilities.

? Responsible for assessing and testing new security software and technology.

? Responsible for managing third party vendors.

? Regularly reports on the state of cybersecurity efforts to the Department Director.

? Responsible for ensuring the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of systems and data.

? Manage the use of SIEM, CASB, Vulnerability Management, and other SOC tools.

? Performs other duties as assigned

Budgetary Responsibility:

No budgetary responsibilities .

Report Preparation:

Will be required to prepare written documentation of standard operating processes and procedures related to network security. Will prepare other operational reports as required.

Equipment Operation:

Operate desktop computers, laptop computers, servers, Cisco network devices; test/scanning equipment as required.

Contacts: Daily interaction with all levels of staff within the Department of Technology to include the Director. Will have contact with school administrative staff, vendors and consultants on a more infrequent basis.

Work Environment:

Position requires travel from headquarters to any Chesterfield County Public School sites as needed. Normal precautions of working around electronic equipment must be exercised at all times.

Qualifications

Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills including meeting deadlines following policies and procedures, and maintaining superior customer service at all times with all customers. Must be able to work and exercise independent judgment with a minimum of supervision. Requires proficiency with varied computer and networking operating systems (i.e. Windows). Requires proficiency with information security frameworks and data privacy regulations. Demonstrates information systems security experience. Strong working knowledge of network monitoring systems, network traffic analysis and protocols and an understanding of security related technologies. Requires demonstrated understanding of Chesterfield County Public Schools supported core applications. Requires experience with Google Workspace, MS O365 or similar cloud-based platform as well as DLP (Data Lost Prevention). Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with vulnerability scanning tools.

Requirements

2+ years of Information Security experience and Bachelor's degree in Information Security or Computer Science preferred. Working knowledge of security best practices. Familiarity with and understanding of major frameworks such as NIST CSF. CIS 18 Critical Security Controls, Virginia Information Technologies Agency SEC530 or similar security frameworks. General knowledge of the following cybersecurity terms/concepts: CIA, vulnerability & patch management, DRP, IRP, SIEM, CASB, BIA, RA, next-gen firewalls, IDS/IPS, DNS, PEN test, SOC, SaaS, IaaS, Paas, virtual servers, ransomware, phishing, spear phishing, whaling, awareness training. Certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CEH or equivalent required or the ability to obtain such certifications within one year of employment. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to details and team player.
