The Opportunity
Future focused and always one step ahead

The Digital Solutions team develops innovative analytics solutions that help our clients understand and manage their exposure to changing and emerging risk areas. The Analytics Engineer designs, develops and deploys data pipelines and dashboards, supporting the implementation of new data and analytics solutions conceived by senior staff.

Requirements
  • Work under the guidance of more senior analytics staff on data transformation and data modeling projects. Ensure the appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices are applied within the scope of a given project.
  • Work on small scale or ad hoc data projects independently. Ensure work is reviewed by more senior staff before releasing into production or submission to business partners.
  • Work closely with data engineering and infrastructure teams to deploy data pipelines and products at scale.


Core accountabilities include:
  • Develop an understanding of the data and processes used by the analytics team to recommend optimized data models and workflow, including the requirements for data formats and attributes at each stage of data transformation.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to align business requirements with data assets.
  • Extract data from different sources and formats and model raw data into clean, tested, and reusable datasets.
  • Define, document and communicate data quality rules, standards, and metrics to team members and business partners.
  • Drive the adoption of DataOps best practices such as version control, data unit testing, and CI/CD.
  • Research and develop analytical tools appropriate to support robust business decisions and expand our analytic capabilities.


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience, re/insurance and cat modeling experience is strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on Power BI and Python experience with strong data exploration and manipulation skills. Experience with geospatial data and analytics is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Git, SQL, cloud-based ETL and integration, distributed-computing, and business intelligence tools
  • General understanding of modern machine learning algorithms applied to real-world data, including the ability to identify and articulate potential data and modeling issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to experiment with and learn new technologies.
  • Self-starter with a high level of intellectual curiosity and dedication.
  • Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates an effective workplace.


This role is being offered in Princeton, NJ or New York, New York. The salary range posted below applies to the Company's NYC location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $91,800 - $134,600 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
