The Right of Way Bureau is responsible for acquiring and managing all property for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) to allow for the construction and maintenance of highway projects.

The Valuation Section oversees the Appraisal Unit and the Appraisal Review Unit and is responsible for the evaluation and valuation of real property subject to acquisition or disposition by the Department.

This position is to perform pre-appraisal and appraisal review related assignments, quality control, and administrative support.

How does it get done?

The duties of this position will include verifying and ensuring all project related information is accurately delivered to consultants and internal customers to initiate and assist the appraisal/review process.

Who are the customers?

Real Estate Fee Appraiser/Review appraisers, project Engineers, consultants and the Appraisal Review Unit Supervisor.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

* Good communication skills
* Customer service experience
* Extensive Eminent Domain appraisal knowledge

Minimum Qualification

Associate's Degree in Business Administration or Finance and two (2) years of experience in real estate, appraisals, real estate appraisals, accounting, auditing, finance and/or collections. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed both in an office and outdoor environment. Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Periodically work in the field, (project sites). Travel is required.
