  1. Aquatics Programs
    1. Responsible for the efficient operations of revenue generating Youth and Family Aquatics Programs. Including Swim lessons (Group swim, Private lessons, adaptive swim lessons), and aquatic-based certification courses offered to the public. Certification courses include but are not limited to: Swim instructors and Lifeguards, CPR and First Aid for the public, other specialized certifications.
    2. Responsible for non-revenue generating events such as: Aquatic club events, summer camp support, general member supervision in the pool areas, and support for birthday parties, parents' night out, project graduations etc.
    3. Plans, develops, organizes, markets, schedules and supervises recreation program activities such as youth recreational athletic classes, youth after school programs, youth summer camp, and recreation class programs.
    4. Responsible for maintaining retention of all successful programs.
    5. Keep up Aquatics bulletin boards current and change displays as needed. Ensure that all Aquatic marketing materials is up to date throughout the facility.
    6. Develops innovative programming; promotes all programs through newsletters, flyers, sign-up sheets, publicity, bulletin boards, web sites, and personal interviews etc
    7. Prepares budget and monitors expenditures for program against revenues; performs fiscal monitoring and development by utilizing P & L reports and other financial reports in ClubAutomation
    8. Provides Operations Manager with capital requests and other budget items as needed.
    9. Responds to member suggestions and inquiries for program improvements, aquatic policy rules and regulations, lap lane reservations, FAC reservations and general member feedback about pools.
    10. Oversees staff's career and professional development. Assists staff with certification renewal with American Red Cross and AngelFish.
    11. Handles all aspect of department payroll including assigning pay rates, scheduling hours, and reviewing/editing.
    12. Manages adaptive swim scholarships and other awarded funding.
    13. Acts as a liaison between physician offices for client/patient referrals into programs.
    14. Promotes and monitors intradepartmental cooperation and team building.
    15. Attend meetings, education programs, seminars and conferences as requested/required.
    16. Prepare and keep current all specific programs in procedures and training manual.
    17. Provide written/electronic reports to the Direct as required on all issues and new programs.
    18. Participate as Manager on Duty as required.
    19. Performs related tasks as required.
  2. MANAGEMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES
    1. Lead by example in attendance, dress code, work responsibilities and follow related organization policies and procedures.
    2. Participates in the recruitment and hiring of all department staff.
    3. Conduct monthly staff meetings within department.
    4. Will cover Aquatic programs if no other staff is available
  3. SAFETY
    1. Inspects all equipment for compliance and safety standards
    2. Insure that all codes are followed to include but not limited to, OSHA, NH State Law, MGB policy etc.
    3. Provide safety training to all aquatic department staff, develop aquatic training for managers and aquatic-based group exercise instructors
    4. Maintain safety knowledge by attending safety seminars/educational trainings to insure discipline in all areas.
    5. Assess pool areas for potential hazards including but not limited too: slip hazards, tripping hazards, etc.
  4. Pool-Based Group Exercise Classes:
    1. Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and staffing Group Exercise aquatic-based group classes
    2. Responsible for the promotion and marketing of aquatic classes.
    3. Actively monitors class participation, making any class changes as needed
    4. Works in-tandem with Fitness Supervisor to ensure all class changes are submitted by the 15th of every month.


Qualifications

  • Experience Minimum Required
    • Associate's degree in business related field or child development, early childhood/elementary education or 3000 hours experience working in an aquatic's environment.
  • Experience Preferred/Desired
    • A minimum of two years management experience in an Aquatics environment. Experience in youth and adult swim program instruction or coaching. Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a Health Club setting. Minimum of three years youth and adult instruction or coaching


Education Minimum Required

  • Associate's degree in business related field or child development, early childhood/elementary education or 3000 hours experience working in an aquatic's environment.
  • Education Preferred/Desired
    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Special Skills Minimum Required
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with people at all levels. Presents a calm and professional manner. Provides good customer service. Demonstrates strong organizational skills. Maintains confidentiality. Enthusiasm for providing members with interesting and exciting programs. Communicates on a professional level with the local community. Strong teaching and promotional skills.
  • Licensure and/or Certifications Required
  • Lifeguard Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Water Safety Instructor within one year of hire
  • Licensure and/or Certifications Preferred/Desired
    • Certified Pool Operator
    • Lifeguard Instructor
    • Water Safety Instructor Trainor
