This UAW-represented position in this department includes:
- Perform assembly and disassembly operations on major units, whether heavy or light, on bench or floor.
- To accomplish assembly and disassembly, work with tools including: hand wrenches, impact wrenches, small grinders / sanders, power tools, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchet wrenches, air tools, pry bars, drills, tap handles, positioning devices, sledgehammers.
- Utilize a cleaning agent to remove oil, grease, and dirt from parts. Types of cleaning agents used are various water soluble compounds. Other solutions used include neutralizers and compounds acting as rust inhibitors.
- Load and unload structures from wagons and move through department.
- May be required to obtain license to operate radio-controlled overhead crane.
- Work in tight areas within vehicle structure.
- Conduct pre- and / or post-operation safety checks of equipment.
- May be required to verify that s/he has followed written instructions. These instructions may include the appropriate operation sheets or quality assurance directives.

Perform tasks that are incidental to the performance of the operation, such as:
- Clean up immediate work area. Under exceptional circumstances, may be assigned to perform general cleaning in the department area. This classification does not include general routine department cleaning.
- Perform administrative tasks relating to the classification.

Other duties as assigned associated with this classification as identified in the UAW-negotiated job description.

Position Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (International Trafficking and Arms Regulations).
- Must successfully complete vetting process administered by Department of Army Police for unescorted facility access.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment process including but may not be limited to background check, medical exam, and drug screen.
- Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a radio-controlled overhead crane license.
- Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including drug screen and background check and physical.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.

Working Conditions & Environment:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and handling various parts up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing ladders and stairs both into and onto vehicle structures.
- Bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, crawling.
- Potential for walking and standing on uneven surfaces.
- Working in and around dust, fumes, oils, mists, lubricants, solvents and in areas with a high noise volume.
- Depending upon departmental assignment wearing a respirator may be required.
- Using hand tools including, but not limited to sledge hammer , pry bar, wrenches, air/gas couplings.
- Operating radio-controlled crane for lifting and moving material.
- Overtime and off-shift work may be required.
- Wearing of required PPE (personal protective equipment) is mandatory.
