Position Summary:

The Assessment and Referral Coordinator receives referrals and establishes assessment and admission services to address patients with behavioral health needs. The Coordinator's objective is to provide an appropriate disposition utilizing internal or external services. The Coordinator is responsible for assuring that patient information is obtained accurately and conveyed to the necessary entities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs emergency/non-emergent behavioral health assessments with individuals who have mental and psychoactive substance abuse issues to determine level of medical necessity and medical stability.
  • Provides a provisional diagnosis based on the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental health disorders.Obtains approval from admitting psychiatrist and assigns patient to appropriate unit based on age and clinical presentation.
  • Identifies preliminary precaution levels and reports this via the High-Risk Notification Alert form.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in psychology, sociology, counseling or related field required.
  • Oklahoma State Licensure required and remain current thereafter (Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
  • Prior experience with crisis intervention and assessment and referral processes.
  • Knowledge in psychiatric diagnosis.
  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to all St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and UHS' policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
