Job Summary:

Located at a Distribution Center. Responsible for reducing inventory shortages and accidents by ensuring physical security standards and safety training and awareness programs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

PHYSICAL SECURITY: Evaluates current security procedures/methods and makes recommendations to improve the physical security of the facility. Performs physical security and procedural tests to determine areas where security may be breached. Works with Distribution Center Management to develop action plans to ensure physical structure is secure. Ensures that either direct run or contract security guards provide surveillance and appropriate controls in and around perimeter according to Navy Exchange specifications. Conducts Operational Reviews and tests of security processes and procedures to ensure compliance.

SECURITY EQUIPMENT EXPERTISE: Provides technical support and direction on the use of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) equipment, access control and fire/intrusion detection systems, and other types of appropriate Distribution Center Management.

INVESTIGATION AND INTERVIEWS: Works closely with the Distribution Center Management team in identifying potential theft, substance abuse, post accident and policy violations related to shortage. With direction from NEXCOM Asset Protection, conducts investigations and related interviews. Regularly updates NEXCOM Asset Protection, Human Resources and Employee Relations as necessary.

INVENTORY CONTROL: Works with NEXCOM Asset Protection, Distribution and Merchandising groups in coordination of inventory control management program from point of origin through distribution to store assured receiving. Conducts investigations relating to shortage/shrinkage.

SAFETY: Works as a collateral duty Safety Manager to provide a safe and secure working environment for all associates. Administers the Navy Occupational Safety and Health and Fire Prevention program for the Distribution Center to ensure adherence with the safety provisions of applicable Department of Navy codes and standards, Safety Training and Awareness programs, and accident prevention.

MISCELLANEOUS PROJECTS: Works with the Distribution Center management team and NEXCOM Asset Protection on numerous special projects as assigned.

REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the NEXCOM Director, Asset Protection/Safety with a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the Distribution Center Director. Interacts with NEXCOM Asset Protection and Employee Labor Relations periodically as circumstances dictate. Maintains an excellent working relationship with all Distribution Center associates and management.

PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Incumbents of this position are required to obtain and maintain a secret DOD Security Clearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Works in large warehouse / distribution center environment with extreme seasonal temperature fluctuations.

Climbs stairways up to 20ft. Climbs ladders.

Physically maneuvers around heavy equipment such as forklifts, turret trucks, 18 wheelers, 10 ton trucks.

Opens and closes trailers & containers requiing pushing and pulling doors.

Walks the warehouse floor regularly. Job requires incumbent to walk on hard surfaces a

minimum 2 to 3 hours daily. This requirement is more extensive when performing Inventory & DC projects.

Trains associates to use heavy machinery. Ensure Requires that all operator training and evaluation is conducted by designated staff a person who has the knowledge, training, and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence.

Regularly lifts up to 50lbs and over 50lbs with assistance from others.

Performs body movements such as bending, twisting, stooping, etc.

Operates a pallet jack to move materials up to 500 lbs.

Works around potential Haz-Mat issues.

Wears protective clothing and shoes in performing job functions.

Operates handheld Telxon guns.

U.S. Citizenship Required

A total of 5 years consisting of the following:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience gained in the administrative, investigative, or loss prevention fields, which enabled the applicant to gain skill in dealing with others in person to person work relationships, and the ability to exercise mature judgment.

OR

SUBSTITUION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for nine months of experience, up to a maximum of a four year bachelor's degree for three years of general experience.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 2 years of progressively responsible experience in retail loss prevention which provided analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work in security/investigations, internal review and control techniques, reducing and controlling inventory shrink.
