Job Summary

Support the Practice Transition Team managing five programs within the team to include: RN Residency, RN Fellowship, PCT Residency, Summer Nurse Externs, and Student Placement. The Assistant Manager will lead the Nurse Professional Development Specialists, coach and mentor the staff, support the administrative team, and support the manager.

Job Duties
  • Adheres and facilitates adherence by other personnel to all policies and procedures, Code of Ethics and nationally recognized standards of practice, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrate continues performance improvement in alignment with the organization's improvement targets.
  • Reviews team schedule and revises as necessary to meet the educational needs of the organization. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to provide coverage when needed.
  • Role models pro-active problem solving by collaborating with staff to ensure effective resolution of identified issues. Utilizes chain of command for unresolved or escalating issues.
  • Provides timely, confidential coaching and/or counseling of staff as appropriate and follows up with accurate reports to Manager and Director. Promotes and enthusiastically supports professional growth of staff by providing equal opportunities for participation in various hospital committees, task forces and/or in continuing education.
  • Assists with maintaining/improving/implementing plans for employee engagement scores.
  • Assures first person reporting of events through RL Solutions. Ensures all staff are competent in entering event reports and serves as a resource when necessary. Investigates facts of event reports. Facilitates timely receipt of these reports for follow-up by the Manager. Notifies Manager/Risk Manager immediately of high-risk situations.
  • Provides input and/or conducts annual performance reviews and orientation evaluation of personnel assigned to the unit. Provides input and/or conducts all performance reviews (90 day, 6 month, annual) and orientation evaluation of personnel.
  • Maintains Kronos records on a daily basis, monitoring for trends that require intervention (ex: late/early clock-ins, incremental overtime, missed punches etc.)
  • Assist with staff meetings, special projects and the development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement activities.
  • Safeguards equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensure as a healthcare professional by appropriate state board.
  • Master's degree required.
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD) or Healthcare CPD Professional (CHCP) is required within 18 months of hire.
  • Five (5) years' experience in the healthcare field, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Two years of experience as an educator is required.
  • A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Self-directed and able to organize and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Work requires high level of effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Work requires interdisciplinary collaboration between nursing, physicians and allied health professionals to develop evidence-based education
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment. Walking, standing, bending, turning and stooping. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimum require prior approval of Vice President for Human Resources Administration or his/her designee.
